JURYING
Each year, after the deadline for applications has passed, all jolly artisans—whether seasoned elves who've joined us before or those new to the festivities—must reapply and face the cheerful scrutiny of our jurying process. Every crafter is encouraged to keep their product line as fresh as a snow-covered morning and to submit new photos showcasing their creations. Once all applications are in, the jury goes to work, carefully choosing a variety of treasures to create a show as delightful as a winter wonderland, one that will surely attract many merrymakers.
The pictures are the North Star that guides our decision-making process, but for those who've previously brought their wares to the Warehouse, we also take a peek at how they’ve done in person. Our jolly committee is present at the shows, quietly observing, making note of how the booths sparkle, how the crafters interact with the public, and how their goods bring joy to all. However, past participation doesn’t guarantee a spot at the next event—oh no! Each show stands alone like a bright star in the night sky, and every applicant must shine anew.
Our jurying process is as thorough as my preparations for Christmas Eve, taking around 40 hours per show to ensure everything is just right. A merry team of over twenty volunteers—experts in the arts, members of the community, and even longtime customers—come together to review each application by category. They consider the variety, quality, and uniqueness of each crafter's offerings, as well as how beautifully their booth is arranged. If a crafter has participated before, their customer service and overall cheerfulness are also weighed.
After all this care, acceptance and rejection letters are sent within 30 days of the application deadline. But fear not, for a waitlist is kept should a spot open up, and late applicants might still get the chance to join in the merriment if another crafter steps aside.
Ho ho ho! And that’s how we make Saint Nick’s Warehouse a magical event, year after year!
